Bio

It all started back in 1965 when Gwyndaf’s parents bought him a second hand ‘Framus’ nylon strung classical guitar from ‘Wagstaff’s’ music shop Llandudno.  It was a year later when he first played in front of audience accompanying his sister singing Welsh songs. Two years later he formed his first band with three friends joining himself and his sister when he was 14.  The band name was ‘Y Mellt’ (English translation, ’Lightning’).       The other band members were George Jones (Drums), Glyn Jenkins (Guitar) Elfed Williams (Vocals & Guitar) and Rhianwen Williams (Vocals).       The band played extensively in Working Men’s Clubs and concerts in North Wales and further afield singing bilingually.

Gwyndaf was involved with several acts over the years – Mŵg Drŵg, Mimosa, Crysbas, M&G Duo, White Lines, Closing Time, Diving Ducks and Rivertown just to name some of them, as well as doing some recording sessions and TV work for S4C.
